Gas Safe Register has won a Gold Award for the design of its Silent Killer campaign at The Design Business Association’s recent Design Effectiveness Awards.
We, as a company, took part in the campaign, called Silent Killer, which was designed to encourage people to change their long-term behaviour by getting them to book an annual safety check of their gas appliances.
In just five months of the campaign, Gas Safe Register achieved a 300% increase in the number of higher risk households having annual gas safety checks – the equivalent of more than 53,000 homes.
During the campaign, we issued a press release, used social media and even did an interview on Bolton FM to promote the campaign in the Bolton and surrounding areas.
Our contribution to the campaign, which ran in the North West of England between October 2012 and February 2013, was recognised by Gas Safe Register with two thank you letters.
Mike Robinson, Managing Director of BHE Services (Bolton) Limited: “We are delighted that Gas Safe Register’s campaign has won this award. We as a company have always supported Gas Safe Register’s campaigns and work to promote gas safety in people’s houses by having annual gas safety checks of gas boilers, gas fires and gas cookers.
He added: “More than 50 people die in the UK every year due to leaky gas appliances and carbon monoxide poisoning. The work of Gas Safe Register and its members plays a vital role in raising awareness of gas poisoning through leaky gas appliances and in trying to reduce the numbers of people in this country that are affected by gas poisoning.”
